Author: Crystalusagi (crystalusagi@seiyausagi.net) Lost - Part Two The dimly lit lanterns cast off a warm light that created a glow around Kakyuu, and the tiny ornaments chimed melodically as she stood there. Seiya noticed all of these things, surely, but they didn't matter. It was as if she was a blind person, and everything around her was color. She knew color existed, but what was it, and why did it matter? Only the sound mattered. Only the sound of Kakyuu's words. No- they did not matter either. No, it was the meaning. Usagi was here, right here, and she would be able to see her. Could it really be? All day searching for this one person, and now Usagi was in the same palace, sleeping under the same sky. "Seiya?" Kakyuu called softly, her expression one of worry. It was Yaten that spoke. "When we left Earth just six years ago, the Earth senshi were strong and formidable. Galaxia was the most powerful force who'd ever come upon us, and they defeated Chaos itself. How can it be that Earth now has an evil ruler?" She managed not to look into Kakyuu's eyes as she spoke, because it would become her undoing. The Princess paused for a second, then, just as impersonally, she answered. "I do not know all of it. I just know that it is Sailor Moon's betrothed that has seized Earth. Or rather, it was." They were all surprised, but it was in Seiya that the anguish burned. It burned a heated trail down her cheeks, and wrenched her hands into tight closed fists. She bit her lip to keep from screaming out that anguish and tasted blood as teeth pierced flesh. It was a welcome pain, because it gave her something to concentrate on, and pain served well to ignite such emotions as anger. The anger welled inside her like a wave of fire, ready to destroy the person who had caused it to awaken. Mamoru... 'You said you'd protect her!' Even Kakyuu, who had never had cause to be afraid of her loyal senshi, took a step back as Seiya's eyes, burning with a deep blue rage, refocused on her. "Where is she?" "Seiya... I told you so that you could prepare. The senshi, Usagi in particularly, have requested that I not allow you to see them until tomorrow." Her eyes misted, and she reached out to take Seiya's hand, squeezing it gently, sympathetically. "I know it is hard, Seiya, but you have to bear with it. Only a night longer." She lifted the hand, laying her forehead against the back of it. "Please." Seiya pulled away. She couldn't hold those damned tears from flooding out; it seemed she just couldn't control her feelings anymore these days. "Don't," she said, and for the first time in all of their lives she was angry at Kakyuu, and her voice was heavy and low with that anger. "Don't use that tenderness, that sympathy, to justify cutting me away from the one person I love most. Do it to Yaten, because she lets you, but not me!" With that she turned and ran away, and the chamber doors resonated with the force of her departure. Taiki looked at the two remaining, both staring at the door as if it would suddenly become an omniscient being that would grant them the solution to all their problems. After an eternity of seconds that rolled into minutes, Yaten turned her gaze to the red-haired beauty, eyes just as hot as Seiya's had been. Only this time, they were heated by need, by love, by longing, and by fear. All those things, and still there was more. Into that gaze Yaten poured the contents of her heart, laid naked for all to see. As much as she showed her anger and frustration, Yaten was never one for divulging the parts of her heart that she considered vulnerable to anyone else. "Kakyuu." The Princess was silent, her eyes still hovering on the door, unable to catch a glimse of that torrent of emotion. A few more minutes she waited, but nothing happened. In a quick steady stride Yaten left, and again the door echoed a Star Senshi's feeling. Taiki let out a long sigh. "You should not leave her like this," she said, moving to straighten the chairs. "She loves you truly, Princess. It is of the purest sort, as perfect as any love could be." She went to her Princess, and much to Kakyuu's astonishment, she knelt. "Please, my Lady," she murmured, lowering her head. It was Kakyuu who was crying now. She dropped down so that they were levelled, and touched Taiki's shoulder. "Go to Seiya now. She needs someone to keep her from tearing up the furniture." Taiki looked up, violet eyes wet. "I'd let her do it." "Go anyway." "And Yaten?" Kakyuu closed her eyes, and more tears fell. "I will go to her." They both got up, and went on their way, leaving the lanterns to burn themselves out. It would be a long night.
